PA Market Report: Overview (Jan11 – Jan15) & Upcoming Events Jan’21

January 11: The week began with the declining AUDUSD as China prints welcome inflation figures for December. Moreover, The Australian Bureau of Statistics released its Australia November Retail Sales and said that it arrived at +7.1 pct MoM s/adj vs the Reuters poll of +7.0 pct. AUD/USD is lower on the day by over 0.5% but has little change in the data. The greenback had been climbing from a nearly three-year low on Thursday as a rise in US yields helped fuel the unwinding of bearish bets on the currency.

Jan 12: Germany prohibits themselves from putting an ease to covid-19 restrictions as GERMAN ECONOMY MINISTER SAYS WITH INFECTION RATE AND SITUATION IN HOSPITALS, I CAN’T IMAGINE EASING OF RESTRICTIONS.

Jan 13: January 13 has been a day full of big news. The biggest news of January 13 has to be VP Mark Pence’s letter to Nancy Pelosi where he said he will not invoke the 25th Amendment of the USA. ECB President Lagarde said, “Some Of The Uncertainty Has Been Cleared, Such As Brexit, US Election And Vaccine Approval” On the other hand, Italy faced a political crisis as Senator Matteo Renzi said, his party’s ministers are resigning.

Jan 14:  China Customs Spokesman: China’s Trade Is Expected To Keep Growth In 2021 Sees Uncertainties From Covid On Trade In 2021. China 2020 Total Trade Up 1.9%: Exports +4% Y/Y: Imports -0.7% Y/Y In Yuan Terms: Trade Balance: 3.7T Yuan. Another huge news of Jan 14 has to be Joe Biden’s 2 Trillions Aid plan. As a consequence of it, Gold dropped $20, and T yield spiked. Fed Chair Powell said that they will only react to shortfalls in maximum employment rather than deviations

Jan 15: On the very last day of this week, China said that it may permit some standard Australian coal. People’s Bank of China asserted that Two-Way Fluctuations In Yuan Will Become Normal Going Forward. U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer confirmed Friday it will temporarily reduce deliveries to Europe of its COVID-19 vaccine while it upgrades production capacity to 2 billion doses per year.
